IPÊ

which translates to english as the Golden Trumpet Tree,

a tree with yellow flowers native the Cerrado of Brazil

Yo-yos carefully elaborated by the artist Zana Maria steal the scene and create a poetic atmosphere

The fuxicos are made one by one and then united in compositions of different sizes and overlays, the dome structure is entirely lined with cotton yarns that receive natural dyeing, exquisite work of Zana Maria and her staff.

The cotton threads receive natural dyeing through the hands of Maria Santa.

Each composition is always unique so when ordering you should check what options are available. Limited editions, numbered pieces with certificate of authenticity.

Everything happened very fast: when I realized I was traveling to Muzambinho (south of Minas Gerais) with friends that I had just met but with whom I’ve made an immediate connection. Our affection was so big that it was as if we have already known each other for many years. In Minas I found and made other friendships, filled with joy, courage, love and, as us, passion for the handcraft art.

We have been warmly received by the artisans, whom opened the doors of their homes and their lives, whom have told us everything, have showed us each detail, SHARED with us their stories and conquered part of our hearts.

By the end of the journey, overflowing with emotions, we came across a yellow ipê. Beautiful, standing alone in an open field, framed by a turquoise blue sky, LIGHTING our eyes and our dreams, summing up in a single image the meaning of everything that trip meant to us.

Willingness to return, to feel all those emotions again. As life goes on and this is not always possible, I wanted to bring them into my home, close to me.

Cotton dyed with fruits from the orchard, fabrics made from the back and forth of the manual loom, “fuxicos” made one by one, an ipê solid wood stand, this is how the Ipê luminaire was born.
