characteristics and care
Yankatu's pieces add to the artisanal works from Brazil and the world. Pieces made by hand with raw materials extracted from nature in a sustainable way. The handcrafted details are not repeated, they may be similar, but never the same. They are manual, imperfect perfection that makes each piece exclusive. Solid wood suffers from climate change, therefore cracks, slight warping and changes in tone can appear over time and are considered normal. To clean it, we recommend a damp, clean cloth slightly moistened with water at room temperature. Never use abrasive sponges, brushes or cloths that may contain residue and dirt, nor chemical or abrasive products. The fabrics and threads used in the pieces are naturally dyed and suffer from the action of time and light, fading irregularly, which is not considered a defect but rather a characteristic that gives them life. Ceramic has limited resistance, is fragile and can break easily. Its delicate painting made with natural pigments also requires care. To clean it, use a duster and never rub a cloth, sponge or use cleaning products as this could damage the work. Natural fibers deserve care. As resistant as they are, they can tear if forced. They are also naturally dyed and, like threads and fabrics, can fade if exposed to light. Metals such as copper undergo oxidation and change color and texture over time. A feature that allows them to tell the story through time.
important
The materials used in the composition of the pieces are sensitive and should not come into contact with moisture or water, as they run the risk of fading and staining whatever may come into contact with them. Do not leave your piece in constant exposure to the sun or artificial light. Excessive light can cause a change in the tone of the wood, fade the fabric and fibers and damage its details and finishes. Keep your piece away from sources of excessive heat, as this can cause warping, detachment, cracks and other damage that may be irreversible. Never place hot objects directly on the pieces, as this may cause stains that cannot be removed. Items with fabrics and fibers must be washed by companies specializing in works of art. Even so, there is the possibility of discoloration as they are dyed with products natural products that do not have fixatives in their composition. And last but not least, do not leave anything on the same place on the piece for a long time, the difference in brightness could cause irreversible stains. Finally, we are not responsible for the misuse of the parts or for damage caused by use other than that intended for them. They are made with great care, have soul and need to be treated with respect. We are sure that you will love your piece and that it will pass from generation to generation in your family, just as ancestral knowledge is perpetuated over time.
