Each work is accompanied by a small notebook kept in a compartment carved in wood, where inspirations, images of immersions and stories of the artisans involved and their regions are shared. Some pages are left blank, an invitation for the story to continue to be told and passed from generation to generation.
Universe
Yankatu is a design, research and project development platform that combines ancestral and contemporary knowledge. It is also a gallery that presents artistic pieces, furniture and objects – made individually or in collaboration with artisans, bespoke or ready for delivery – that carry with them a cultural heritage from Brazil and the world.
Design or art? It doesn't matter. What matters is that the works achieve their objectives, communicating the countless possibilities that exist of adding without subtracting, of sharing without competing, of being one and being many.

About
the parts
“Handmade” is one of Yankatu’s pillars, which combines the appreciation of regional raw materials, the preservation of the environment and the intangible wealth of the Brazilian people, who are so diverse and creative. Instead of taking advantage of the technique and adjusting the artisanal product to the consumer's taste, Yankatu wants to educate the public's eyes and hearts to the beauty and richness that exist in authentic traditional works, in the stories they carry and the connections they provide. .
Design and art are tools for transformation. They don't just transform materials into form, function and beauty, they transform lives.
We understand life as an eternal sharing of knowledge, and only when we understand the value of this learning within each experience, will we share in a more beautiful world, a better world. Yankatu impacts through the shaped and constructed connection, and transforms the people behind the production chains, as well as those who interact through the narratives developed through design and art.
we are all stories beyond matter.
